St. Vincent de Paul’s Hall of Banners: Teaming with Opportunity

The Hall of Banners, our family dining room at St. Vincent de Paul in Phoenix, is our showpiece. It’s what Phoenix area citizens think of when they want to volunteer to help the homeless and working poor.

So much untapped potential comes through the hall, given the diversity of skill sets our volunteers represent.

We’re creating a little village in the Hall of Banners for children to work in with our volunteers. For volunteers this is an open invitation to come and share your specialties.

Maybe you’re good at math and can help us teach young children. Perhaps geography is your thing and you can help lead a series of “Nation Nights” that focus on a different country and its culture each evening.

Executives and staff members from Fry’s grocery stores, for example, come in every Thursday night and set up a play grocery store. They give kids monopoly money and help children learn to how to budget for and purchase their essentials.

But you don’t need to be part of a big corporation to get involved. And St. Vincent de Paul isn’t merely an organization to volunteer through or donate money to. We sincerely appreciate these activities, of course.

It’s also a place where people like you can live out your passion.

What do you want to teach, or learn?

What kind of people do you want to help?

Drop us a note with your ideas. I bet we have room for you!
