Barbara Packard, the manager of the SVdP Flagstaff thrift store, has dedicated coun tless hours over the last 11 years serving her community. Barbara was recently selected as the 2011 Arizona Daily Sun Female Citize n of the Year!

An excerpt of the Arizona Daily Sun article

“We are talking about giving people hope,” said Barbara Packard, a longtime, dedicated volunteer who, for the last 11 years, has been a driving force in the store with the help of other volunteers and her husband Bill. “The store and St. Vincent de Paul help provide a beacon of hope in the Sunnyside neighborhood.”

At the end of the day, Packard said volunteering has been central to her life. “Volunteering is the best gift I ever gave myself,” she said. “The blessings I’ve received from being here has enriched my life, and I hope my volunteering has blessed other lives.”

St. Vincent de Paul is so honored to have volunteers like Barbara, who provide hope through faith and love to those who need it the most.

Thank you Barbara! You are an inspiration to others.
